A lovely afternoon at the DMV

Carrie and I spent many enjoyable hours at the DMV yesterday. We went in the morning to get plates for Pepe the Pilot..... didn't have all of Scott's signatures on the papers we needed. So we came home for lunch, he signed them, and then after her nap we headed back. Apparently every kid at Streator high school was there with their mothers trying to get their licenses. It took a good long time. Carrie was PERFECT- she sat on my lap w/ her pen and clipboard and drew. If she dropped something, everyone around was quick to hand it back to her. She'd give them a big smile and offer it back.

When it was my turn, she decided she'd had enough drawing and starting poking the shoulder of the little old lady who was sitting behind her. She wanted her to know that her coat was "ya ya!" which started to get giggles from everyone watching. Then the sweet old lady, bless her soul, offered Carrie her car keys. It had a remote that lit up. That just made Care Bear's day! She hopped off her chair and ran to the door, cracking everyone right up. Someone quipped, "you can drive young, but not THAT young!" They all thought it was hilarious that she knew what the keys were for. So she did a few laps back and forth to the door, pressing the light up button the whole time. She finally returned them to the sweet little old lady and she made a break for the door when Carrie wasn't watching.

The girls behind the counter raved about her, saying how good she was and that she'd been there that morning and was as good as gold then too. They all said how pretty she was and started telling stories about their daughters.

So all in all, I expected to be learning patience at the DMV and instead ended up w/ a lesson in gratitude over how awesome my kid is. Guess there are good days and bad days parenting; yesterday was SUPER! She made me so proud.

Staying in today. It's FRIZZERING out there =( Stay warm & healthy! Take care! =)
