Hat Day

Thing 3's school has had an A to Z countdown until summer vacation. H was for Hat Day so they could wear their favorite hats. He didn't choose his baseball cap for his peewee team, or any of our beer featured caps (thank goodness, but it's what one often gets when one works in the glass industry), or any of the college or professional sports teams' logos. He heads straight for the Dark Side:

I should mention that the part hanging around his neck has buttons that, when pushed, emit the voice of James Earl Jones quoting lines from the movies as well as his labored breathing. I reminded him that he probably could play it before school but had better not during class.

I advised cautious optimism. "They might not allow you to wear it all day. You might have to separate it, and that's okay."

A chipper Thing 3 hopped off the bus in the afternoon and announced that he'd gotten to wear it all day long. Apparently I am no Jedi yet...

Tetris

There's a place in town that makes delicious stuffed breadsticks. They're full of cheesy goodness and you can add pepperoni, chicken, roast beef, sauces. Yum. We haven't had them for quite awhile and I get a text out of the blue from Thing1 requesting them for before the Senior Studio art show (which will be another post). This is what I send back:

To which I receive a reply reading, "There's room for a pizza box."

I had an actual flashback of a college roomie stating with distinct  pride, "no matter how much stuff is in the fridge, I can still fit a case of beer in there." Now those are some excellent Tetris skills!

Breadsticks it is!

Whatever works

Yesterday we had the chimney and fireplace cleaned and inspected. Thing 2 was already awake and moving, and decided their vacuum was too noisy to try to concentrate around. He decided that the pantry, our sound vacuum, would be the perfect place to do his work:

He did announce later that the freezer in there was louder and more distracting than he’d anticipated, but overall he was pretty pleased with his decision.

It was worth keeping quiet about so that I could smirk when Dada discovered him and asked me, “did you know he was in there?!”

I’m not dead yet

Happy birthday to Mama Dean! Blog posts coming soon, I promise!
