“What sort of fun and games?”

My family can instantly identify this line as being from one of my favorite movies, “Father Goose”, starring Cary Grant and Leslie Caron. I’ll let you look up the details here on IMDb.com, which is one website I utilize probably every day. It drives me crazy when I can’t remember an actor’s name or what I’ve seen them in previously, so it’s one of my favorite reference tools.

Anyway, the main character, Walter, has been manipulated by an old friend who is now attempting to cheer him back up. He informs Walter that they’ll be enduring some fun and games, to which Walter suspiciously asks, “what sort of fun and games?”

Well, you’ve got nothin’ on me, Walter, because I’m doing this sort. This afternoon and evening are prep for tomorrow’s colonoscopy.

Rest easy; this one, my first, is not because my oncologist is worried about it. She is aware that colon cancer gallops through my family and wanted me to be checked early because of my high risk. At my last screening in October, all my labs were “perfect” and she was pleased with all my numbers. This is purely, as a sweet friend called it, “a necessary evil.”

I’m about to experience why people claiming alien abductions are so afraid of being probed. 😆

All that to say: the end of 2021 is near, so get those health checks you’ve been procrastinating on. Use up your health care benefits. Take some time to take good care of yourself, be proactive, breathe, and don’t be overwhelmed by the holiday anxieties. If you need someone to talk with, I promise I will only text you from the bathroom.

Toodle-LOO! (I crack myself up…)
