Here's the big kids' darling prinicipal, introducing the class of 2021 yet again. They'll always have a special spot in his heart because they were kindergarteners his first year as a principal. I think he's especially fond of this class.
The fifth grade did a show called North Pole Exposure and it was a good 40 minutes long. Santa and Mrs. Claus were featured, both of whom were played by good friends of Carrie's. It's been fun seeing all these kids grow so much over the years. Carrie was a snowman and sang "I Wanna Go to Hawaii" with 4 other friends. Me too, Carrie, me too.
Carrie's preschool teacher, Miss Linda, couldn't make it this year, but we met up with our close friend Miss Theresa for the concert. She was expecting about 2 songs and was blown away by the amount of time and talent they displayed. She raved afterward about how impressed she was, and we're all, "yeah, we know." Haha! I guess it's easy to take talent for granted, especially when your own fifth grader is underfoot and constantly practicing her multitudes of carols nonstop. Anyone who knows Carrie knows she has a lovely singing voice and that she's rarely quiet. It was a great concert and the hard work was apparent. Lots of kids had speaking parts, which is a nice change from some schools that only showcase the same half a dozen kids. We love going to the concerts at our school!
I kind of started Liam's birthday celebrating early. Wednesday night we ordered pizza, his choice, and sang to him and gave him our family gifts. I've learned that a birthday on Halloween leads to mass chaos between the school day and parties and parade and dinner and homework and trick or treat. When are you supposed to fit a birthday in? The day before, naturally. Spread the love.
His card from us was picked by Damon. It's a singing, vibrating hamburger with googly eyes. It never fails to make them laugh. See?
He got a yellow gift bag from Grandmama with her usual across-the-board goodies from flash cards to books to yellow plates/napkins/plasticware to Lego shaped candles!
Yes, I am That Mom, who buys her kid underwear for his birthday. He's grown a ton and needed it anyway, so he got fun Skylander and Angry Bird skivvies from his Mama.
All right, I got him a pretty sweet Angry Birds hoodie, too. I'm not all bad!
Pap and Grandma Barb brought him a Star Wars Lego set when they got here, so he was over the moon and has his um, some star-fighter thingie all assembled and is delighted that it shoots um, thingies? Haha!
We did our first 2011 trip to the dentist yesterday while PaPa was here to help corral kids and babies, etc. Damon was an angel, alternately singing and sleeping in his car seat while Thing One, Thing Two and I got our teeth cleaned and checked.
Liam went first and apparently told Cindy, our dental hygenist: Now watch it. Don't get all scrape-y by my gummies. She hid her mirth very well, (she has 4 kids of her own, 3 being triplets) and made sure she told me about it. He claims it was: Now be careful. Don't get all scrape-y by my gummies, but she insisted it was "you watch it" twice. Hehe!
Nobody had any cavities, again. Yippie! The dentist recommended we have some of Carrie's bottom baby teeth pulled to make room for the big ones coming in. He hopes that as her jaw grows that it would give her new teeth extra room. We're thinking braces are going to be inevitable anyway, soooooo... we'll see. She just about left town when he suggested pulling teeth. She has her permanent bottom front four and the two top front ones, with a loose and wiggly one beside them. Cindy also said her sealant on her back molars looks wonderful.
We go back in August and will all need X-rays at that point. Oh goody. I can't wait.
