Desperate times call for desperate measures

Some of you heard about the tornados that came through the day Damon was born. I'm staring at a newspaper article about that day and thinking how blessed we are. Over 50 homes were destroyed, 50 more were "severly damaged" and 7 people were killed. The hospital was told to put patients in the hallways away from windows, so there we were, all us moms in our hospital gowns and mesh underwear with a bunch of complete strangers. I have to give tremendous kudos to the staff who took care of us. It can't have been an easy night to be watching all those babies and moms and dads and paperwork in the middle of crazy circumstances. They rose to the occasion with grace and humor and I felt totally safe. Dada was tickled to be able to attempt time lapse photography on the lightning, but the blinds in the middle of the windows didn't want to cooperate. Here are some pictures to give you a general idea. Personally, I think all those years of "head to the basement of the dining hall" at camp trained us to stay calm and just go with it...
