Take two

I'm retarded & tried to post this once already during maintenance on the site and so it poofed. That's okay... I have more to say now!

Care Bear had a wonderful birthday & the presents keep coming. Here are pictures of her opening ones from great aunt and uncle Judy & Mike and one from uncle Kelly & aunt Becky. Thanks to all who have sent her gifts, cards, cash, etc! She's really been excited about getting mail and has been staggering around under the weight of the boxes her presents come in. It's been pretty funny to watch!

She escorted me to my OB/GYN appt on Friday. It was scheduled for 11 AM and when we got there I was informed that he'd just been called to surgery & had to reschedule for 1 PM. Um, hello, could you call your patients before the make the trip to be told he's unavailable?! Next time I'LL call before we leave...

Anyway, he heard the heartbeat of this new baby and said everything looked good. I'd even gained 3 pounds, which is a big deal if A) you know about my family's incredible metabolism blessing and B) you remember that he told me to gain at least 2 before this appointment. I was so proud! Hehe! Next month will be our first ultrasound, just in time for Scott's birthday and Father's Day. Couldn't have planned that any better! Today kicks off the start of the second trimester already, which I'm thrilled about, too!

She was pretty good while the nurse did my blood pressure and all that immediate stuff that she takes care of. Once the nurse left, Care Bear decided she wanted off her chair and to stand on the big scale. Fine w/ me... she has to do that at HER doctor's now so why not encourage it? So it was up & down for a few minutes w/ the scale. The doctor came in, so I asked her if she'd like to sit back up on her chair.
"No!"
The doctor chuckles.
"Do you want to sit in your chair and eat your cracker and have your juice?"
"No!"
The doctor laughs.
"Can you tell someone just turned two on Sunday?"
The funniest part was that it was a completely cheerful "you're stuck up there on the table and can't do anything about me saying no" kind of no. I just let her be. I'm in a paper skirt- what am I supposed to do!?

Yesterday we went to a veggie farm which has now been reduced to selling their asparagus and rhubarb... so we bought some of each. Anyone have any good rhubarb recipes? Scott did asparagus last night and proclaimed it delicious. Tasted like the lemon & butter it was cooked in to me... I'm so not a veggie fan!

Then we headed to the City Park for Heritage Days- pretty much a carnival atmosphere. We had hot dogs & funnel cake & tacos, looked at all the rides & wares, and enjoyed the sunshine. Came home, had great naps and played inside the rest of the night.

Today we became members of our church, First Presbyterian Church in Ottawa, IL. It was great being Pentecost...we were all one big blur up there. Nineteen of us joined! We went to both services and snuck out after we were recognized in the second service. Half of our small group became members too, so we've had a very good time in that new members' class. So here are the pictures and I'm all up to date! Yay! Have a wonderful week!
